In addition to biases in the data, only 22% of professionals in the AI and data science fields are women . The combination of these two factors could very easily perpetuate and exacerbate the already existing bias in healthcare. For example, we know that the gender gap in childcare 女性護理產品 has increased over the pandemic, putting an additional burden on working mothers. We also know that women are more likely to have a long-term sickness absence and leave work following that absence compared with men.
How did you think women health condition or disability or the health condition or disability of the woman you have in mind impact your or their experience in the workplace? Is there anything else you want to share regarding information and education on women’s health? Is there anything else you would like to share regarding how the health and care system listens to women’s voices? In health and social care, the proportion of women in the workforce is even higher, with 77% of the NHS workforce and 82% of the social care workforce being female. This call for evidence seeks views on 6 core themes that connect different areas of women’s health across the life course. As Minister of State in the Department of Health and Social Care, one of my key priorities is women’s health.
There is very little evidence on other health conditions, although we do know that common conditions which lead to sickness absence and leaving the workforce are more prevalent in women, for example mental health conditions, and musculoskeletal conditions. We set up the Women’s Mental Health Taskforce in response to evidence of deteriorating mental health among women and poor outcomes experienced by some women in mental health services. The Mental Health Taskforce report found that there are a number of women’s health factors that contribute to adverse outcome for women’s mental health, including those stemming early in life from lack of confidence or self-esteem, body image issues, or bullying.
Outside Access Entrance
In partnership with the Office for Veterans’ Affairs and the Ministry of Defence, NHS England has established a multi-agency health improvement group for women who are serving and those that have served. Further work could include best practice guidance to health and care services, such as GPs and pharmacies, to support socially excluded women, including women experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping. The NHS has also set out actions and plans to address health disparities within local maternity systems in guidance for maternity systems. In the written submissions, we also heard that some groups of women face additional barriers regarding access to and experience of services, and that there are disparities in health outcomes. For example, organisations also told us that disabled women often find themselves unable to access some in-person services. We have invested at least £1.5 billion, announced in 2020, to create an additional 50 million general practice appointments by 2024.

This sits alongside the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence review of its guideline on endometriosis. While heterosexual couples are expected to try to conceive for two years before accessing NHS-funded treatment, NICE guidance previously stated that female same-sex couples must undergo six rounds of intrauterine insemination from a licensed fertility unit before they’re considered. In England, women live on average four years longer then men but more of their life is spent in poor health, which can have affect their day-to-day activities. It’s why individuals and charities have spent years campaigning an end to the gender health gap within NHS services.

Article Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust women’s network The Health and Care Women Leaders Network is highlighting women’s networks in our sector. On International Women’s Day on 8 March we to celebrated and highlighted work underway to progress gender equality. We connect through events, masterclasses, tweet chats and campaigns, and share learning through podcasts, blogs, videos and key reports. For instance, one in four women has a degree of asymmetry in their breasts, and 97% of OBGYNs report being asked by women of all ages about genital normality, yet not all could confidently feel they could express what normal is.
NHS England is working with NICE and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency through the Accelerated Access Collaborative to speed up the access to technologies that are proven to be safe and effective by patients. To support work to develop the delivery plan and implementation framework for this strategy, we will undertake a mapping exercise to identify what data is collected, where there are gaps, and how we can fill those gaps. In the long term, we will seek to understand any complex system-wide barriers that may prevent pregnant women from participating in research. To improve our understanding of research gaps, the NIHR will undertake further analysis of their portfolio and, in the longer term, explore mechanisms across the NIHR to address these gaps.
Access To Services
Young people who were eligible for HPV vaccination in school but who missed it can still be vaccinated on the NHS for free, up to their 25th birthday, to ensure they are protected. Through the 10-year drug strategy, published in 2021, we are making the largest ever single increase in drug and alcohol treatment and recovery funding, with £780 million of additional investment over 3 years, between 2022 to 2025. Of this, £532 million will be invested to rebuild local authority commissioned substance misuse treatment services in England. Also, the government acknowledges the possible link between digitally altered body images and mental health, including the potential harms such a link may cause.
